Edward S. Curtis - Indians of the Southwest

Edward S. Curtis spent years, in the early part of the 20th century, traveling the American West and creating stunning, and poignant, photographic portraits of Native American people and their vanishing lifeways. There is a wealth of internet resources on Curtis, including a great feature at the Library of Congress web site. The Library of Congress also archives a substantial collection of Curtis's work, from which most of the ones I post here will be drawn.

This first set of Curtis photos is of native people of the Southwestern US.
